OWLs

Older Wiser Lutherans

OWLs are members of Immanuel age 55 and over. They are young at heart "seniors" - Christian folk who give a hoot! No business meetings, officers or dues. Come join in the fun and fellowship!

WEDNESDAY BIBLE STUDY- Galatians

The Epistle to the Galatians is the ninth book of the New Testament.  Inspired by the Holy Spirit, it was written by the Apostle Paul to a number of early Christian communities in the Province of Galatia.

It was the clear distinction of the Gospel of Christ in contrast to the divine Law which was instrumental in shaping the life and teaching of Martin Luther.  It was from Bible letters like Galatians and Romans that gave rise to the strength of the Lutheran Reformation.

A study of Galatians is therefore especially fitting as we continue our focus on the Reformation movement.

Pastor Reed is exploring the Book of Galatians in the class that meets every Wednesday. Join with fellow learners in the Great Room, 9:30-10:30 AM. You are welcome to attend.

SERVE THE LORD WITH GLADNESS (Eph. 6:7)

IMMANUEL CARES!
More than a catchy slogan or an eye-catching banner hanging in the Great Room hallway. Each individual has a role in caring for one another.

But we are not alone in this: Immanuel, Himself, leads us. We get support from others as we work on boards, committees, in organizations and school-related groups, prayer chains, and so much more. As a member of the body of Christ, what will you do to be the eyes, ears, feet, mouthpiece, etc as you seek to fulfill your role as God’s chosen child?

On Sat, Dec 2, Bay Shore Camp is sponsoring their Living Nativity Drive-Thru. Time is anytime between 5:00 and 7:30 PM.  The tour takes about 15 minutes, viewed from inside your vehicle. Afterwards, guests are welcome to refreshments and visiting in their community room. There is no charge for this event. All ages will enjoy the live animals and portrayals of the Most Holy Night. For our seniors who cannot drive, members of Older Adults Ministry committee may be able to help. Let us know your needs.

Get in the spirit of Christmas with singing! And bring joy to others at the same time!  It’s our annual Christmas Caroling days. Mark your calendar: Thursday, December 14 for out-of-town caroling; TuesdayDecember 19 for caroling in Sebewaing, including Medallion Village and local homebound. In both instances we will gather at 10:00 AM in the Great Room, and return home by 3:00 PM. All caroling is done indoors. All ages are invited to join with the OWLs in giving a hoot.  For our planning, it is imperative that we have an accurate count. You will find a SIGN-UP SHEET on the bulletin board in the narthex near the elevator.
