OWLs Events

6th Annual Seed Scooping event

Our 6th Seed Scooping event took place in the Great Room on Tuesday, September 24, from 4:00-7:00 PM. We supported Day 3 Seeds, a new outreach created by Mike and Jean Mueller at their farm in Bertrand, Missouri. On hand for our event were Mike, along with Rev Raymond Kaija of Uganda, Africa.

Our group of 44 volunteers packed 6000 packets in two hours! Many of these are already in Uganda at Raymond’s mission stations and in refugee camps. Our collection totaled $822. Any further donations may be sent to Day 2 Seeds, Inc, 2959 W 404th Rd, Bertrand, MO 63823. They will accept any memorial gifts as well as your Thrivent Choice Dollars.

After the packing session, the group was treated to a delicious pulled pork BBQ supper with trimmings. We thank all who donated time and resources to make this another successful event. Thanks, too, to Thrivent Financial who provided an Action Team grant.

Orphan Grain Train

ORPHAN GRAIN TRAIN - Michigan Branch is in full operation in the former Satow Furniture Store in downtown Sebewaing. To learn more about OGT, OWLs sponsored a program on Sun, Oct 6, featuring our local administrator, Rev David Reed. After viewing a powerpoint presentation in the Great Room, we trekked to the warehouse to see and hear about the progress of this exciting venture.

You are invited to the facility during operational hours, 9:00-noon on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Donations of clean, used clothing, medical supplies, bicycles and more are welcomed at that time. Volunteer help is always welcome. For further information contact Pastor Reed.
