500TH ANNIVERSARY OBSERVANCE

OF THE

LUTHERAN REFORMATION

Congregations of the Michigan Thumb Circuits

of the Michigan District of The Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod

Members from 18 Missouri Synod Lutheran congregations in the Thumb assembled Sunday, September 24th, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Sebewaing, MI to celebrate the 500th Anniversary of the Lutheran Reformation.

This anniversary was observed throughout the world.  Confessional Lutherans especially realize how profound is the blessing to all generations of Christians like us who are heirs of the Reformation.

This highly significant anniversary was commemorated wherever Lutherans take seriously the absolute godsend and truth of the Gospel of Jesus and our justification by faith in His atoning sacrifice for the sins of the world.

Our church is founded and our Christian lives sustained on the bedrock fact that Jesus, God’s beloved Son, became human and by His righteous life and sacrificial death and resurrection obtained salvation for us all.

The justification of sinners by Christ is the core of all Christian truth, and it is this by which we remember and rejoice.

Pastor Joshua Haller of Grace, Fairgrove, delivered the sermon.  Sacred and festive music was prepared.  All pastors of the Thumb participated in delivering the Supper at this exceptional gathering.  To God be all the glory as we commemorated joyously the Lutheran Reformation together.
