Our Heavenly Father has seen fit to call His servant, Elizabeth Riess, home. She will live with Him eternally. She passed away at Scheurer Hospital in Pigeon on December 19, 2023, at the age of 81. She lived in Sebewaing and was formerly from Frankenmuth.

Elizabeth was born on August 18, 1942, to the late Richard H. and Alma L (Manske) Denner. She is a graduate of Sebewaing High School, Class of 1960. During high school she played clarinet and attended Interlochen for two summers and was chosen as a junior conductor. She attended and graduated from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo with a bachelor’s degree as a Medical Technician. Here she played for the marching band and concert band. She married Melvin C. Riess on July 30, 1977 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sebewaing. He preceded her in death on October 1, 2021. She loved classical music, enjoyed playing golf and being a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Funeral services will be Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sebewaing. Visitation will begin at the church at 10am until the time of service at 11am. Burial will take place privately at the church cemetery. Pastor Charles Kuhl will be officiating.
