...age 96, was called to meet our Lord and Savior on Friday, January 26, 2024.

Alice was born July 2, 1927, to Christina A. (Ellwanger) and August C. Eberlein, joining her two brothers, Clayton and Richard all of whom preceded her in death. Alice spent her younger years working in the soda shop of her Dad’s pharmacy where she gained a love for all things ice cream!

She was the last living family member of her generation. Alice was an active, lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, attended Immanuel Lutheran School and Sebewaing High School, graduating in 1944 as the Valedictorian of her class.

On April 10, 1953 she married Fredrick Pommerenke who preceded her in death in 2007.

Together they raised five children: Gayle (Duane) Genow and Gordon (Nancy) Pommerenke, of Sebewaing; Kay (Keith) Armbruster of Bay City; Stacey (Paul) Bybee of Hudsonville and Kimberly (Steven) Butterfield of Bonney Lake, WA. all of whom survive her. Also surviving their “Grandma Alice” are 14 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; as well as many special nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Alice worked as a bookkeeper at many businesses around Sebewaing, eventually spending 25- plus years as the bookkeeper at Gettel, Inc. where she was known by many in the area farm communities.

Throughout her years, Alice kept in touch with family and friends through cards, letters and email. After retirement she and Fred enjoyed traveling the country visiting friends and family. Alice was an avid reader and Detroit Red Wings fan. She enjoyed working puzzles, playing cards and lovingly knitting or crocheting beautiful gifts for her family and friends.
